Bio

My name is Hafsat and I am from Northern Nigeria. I am a communications strategist, public affairs leader, and advocate for governance reforms, with a career deeply rooted in public service and social impact. I currently serve as the Head of Communication at Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission, where I lead efforts to strengthen stakeholder engagement, shape public perception, and ensure that citizens’ voices are reflected in one of the country’s most critical sectors.

• Head of Strategic Communication

  Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission - Full-time From May 2023 to Present

  I develop and implement strategic communication plans aligned with regulatory goals, manage media and stakeholder relations, oversee content creation across press, digital, and social platforms, and lead public outreach campaigns to educate consumers and stakeholders on policies and rights. I also coordinate internal communications to keep staff informed, monitor media perception, represent the Commission in public engagements, and manage the communication budget to deliver on annual priorities.

  British Council Nigeria - Full-time From May 2019 to April 2023

  I led program planning and execution, developed stakeholder mapping tools, technical papers, and guidance materials, and designed communication and media strategies with strong national and state-level engagement. I managed €5 million in grants, supervised 12 staff and 150 consultants, strengthened project reporting and monitoring systems, and collaborated with the British Council’s global team on case studies and newsletters.
